BANNING, CA — A vehicle under pursuit near Banning rolled and burst into flames late Monday, witnesses said. Medics transported one injured occupant due to that crash, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Maggie De La Rosa.

Just before 9:30 p.m., Riverside County Sheriff's Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in San Jactino, Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzales said. That driver failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.

The driver fled authorities, heading eastbound on the I-10 Freeway. He failed to navigate the 8th Street on-ramp, according to Brito-Gonzales. He lost control and rolled the vehicle, which landed in an empty field.
