Chlorine Spill Shuts Down Travel Through MoVal Neighborhood
Traffic through a Moreno Valley neighborhood was disrupted Wednesday morning after a chemical spill required Hazardous Materials cleanup.

MORENO VALLEY, CA—An early morning crash between two vehicles sparked a several-hour hazardous materials incident in Moreno Valley, firefighters say.
Shortly before 6 a.m., two vehicles collided in a Moreno Valley neighborhood near Rockwood Avenue. One of the vehicles, a pool cleaning truck, spilled about three one-gallon containers of chlorine, leading to the hazardous materials call, Cal Fire spokesperson Karina Espinoza said.
No one was injured in the crash, but the chlorine required special attention by hazardous materials cleanup crews.

Rockwood Avenue was closed from Newburgh Road to Piedmont Drive during the cleanup of that chlorine, but according to Espinoza, no one was evacuated from the area.
Riverside County Environmental Health facilitated the cleanup, which was neutralized by 9 a.m. At that time, all roads were reopened to area drivers.
