RivCo Man Killed In Apparent Homicide ID'd; Suspect Arrested
The 54-year-old San Jacinto man was intentionally struck and killed by a pick-up truck who fled the scene, Beaumont Police say.

BEAUMONT, CA — The victim of a Beaumont homicide was identified Thursday as a 54-year-old San Jacinto resident, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau.
Scott Charles Jr. was struck and killed in the 400 block of E. 1st Street in Beaumont on Monday, shortly before 11 p.m., Beaumont police say. A half-hour later, a suspect was detained in Cabazon, the location of a second crash involving the same vehicle.
"Investigators believe (the E. 1st Street crash) was intentional," Beaumont Police spokesperson Julie Van Hook said.

Authorities initially responded to the scene near the E. 1st Street Arco station on reports of a pick-up truck striking and running over a man.
"The driver left the area before the arrival of law enforcement, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene," Van Hook stated. The details of the Cabazon crash are still unfolding. However, the pick-up truck driver, who remains unidentified, was arrested at that location.

"The suspect is in custody and is receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the Cabazon collision," she said on Monday.
The Riverside County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine any additional charges.
