Coroner: Suicide Victim On I-10 Near Cabazon Was LA Man

CABAZON, CA — A pedestrian who was struck and killed Wednesday by a big rig on Interstate 10 near Cabazon has been identified by the coroner's bureau as a 22-year-old Los Angeles man.

The fatality was reported about 3:40 a.m. on eastbound I-10, west of the Haugan-Lehman Way exit.

Officer Matt Napier said the CHP was investigating the death as a possible suicide based on reports from the trucker and several witnesses that the person appeared to have intentionally gotten in front of the tractor-trailer, whose driver was uninjured.
The investigation into the crash prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway at Main Street until about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"This tragedy was so surreal we have to let his heart shine and we can become a piece of him and carry out his dreams," a GoFundMe page read Thursday morning. The page aims to raise $15,000 to cover funeral costs that will go to his mother, according to the person who set it up.
"This is a fundraiser is for our beloved Jack Fisher," the page read. "He was a very sweet young man and was always respectful. This angel left us too soon. His bright life suddenly ended on December 16, 2020."
