Donald Trump Supporters to Rally Today In Riverside County

The two-hour event begins at 11 a.m. in Temecula.

TEMECULA, CA - Donald Trump supporters will rally today in Temecula, where a number of speakers are expected to laud the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's proposals -- potentially in the face of protests, though
sheriff's officials don't anticipate trouble.

"Riverside for Trump'' is organizing the two-hour outing at Duck Pond Park on Ynez Road. The rally is slated to get underway at 11 a.m. and draw about 350 people, according to organizers.

Riverside for Trump founder Glenn Turner said speakers will include Canyon Lake Mayor Tim Brown, constitutional attorney and one-time California attorney general candidate Orly Taitz, Remembrance Project Director Maria Espinoza and broadcaster Ernie White -- all of whom will address key issues and the importance of get-out-the-vote drives.

Trump is not expected to attend.

"The majority of conservatives and Republicans in California support Donald Trump for president because he will put America first, and he's not beholden to any special interest groups,'' Turner said.

Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee for president this week after his remaining rivals, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, suspended their campaigns.

Espinoza will address illegal immigrant crime during her appearance.

Trump's proposed immigration control measures have been hot-button topics and the impetus for raucous -- sometimes violent -- counter demonstrations, most recently during a campaign rally in Costa Mesa, where 17 people were arrested on April 28.

Two days earlier, during a confrontation outside Anaheim City Hall, an anti-Trump protester pepper-sprayed two young girls. Riverside County sheriff's spokesman Deputy Mike Vasquez told City News Service deputies will be in place for today's rally "to ensure all the attendees are allowed their right to support whoever they choose.''

During a similar event on March 26, some words were exchanged between opposing sides, but no arrests were made.

"(We) saw citizens express their views peacefully,'' Vasquez said. "We anticipate the same for this weekend.''
