Earthquake Shakes San Jacinto Wilderness Nature Preserve Area

No damage or injuries were immediately reported.

HEMET, CA — A small, 3.0-magnitude earthquake rattled a remote area of Riverside County near Hemet just after noon Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The temblor, at 12:11 p.m., was centered 3.9 miles southwest of Mountain Center, 9.4 miles southeast of Valle Vista, 11.3 miles east-southeast of East Hemet and 13.2 miles east-southeast of Hemet, near the San Jacinto Wilderness nature preserve, according to the USGS.

It was at a depth of about eight miles.
