Adventures with Anthropologist J.P. Harrington

Dragonfly Lecture: Adventures with J.P. Harrington. Harrington (1884-1961) was an ethnologist who is famed for his massive collection of information about the cultures and languages of Native American people in California. Most of that information remains unpublished. Carmen Jany, linguistics assistant professor at California State University, San Bernardino, will discuss his work and access to it, focusing on Serrano and other area cultures and languages. Donations at the door benefit the nonprofit Dorothy Ramon Learning Center's work to save and share Southern California cultures, languages, history, and traditional arts.
