Filing Period Ends Friday for Candidates Seeking Run in June Primary
Deadline is at 5 p.m. Friday.

RIVERSIDE, CA - Candidates seeking elected offices in the June 7 primary election have until Friday to file their nominating papers with the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.
Registrar Rebecca Spencer said hopefuls must submit their candidacy declarations and other required materials, as well as pay filing fees, no later than 5 p.m. on March 11. If an incumbent hasn't declared an intention to run, the filing deadline will be automatically extended to March 16, according to the registrar.

At the local level, Supervisor Kevin Jeffries is facing three challengers in the primary, while Supervisor Chuck Washington is facing one in his first election since being appointed last March by the governor to the Third District seat vacated by former Supervisor Jeff Stone, who was elected to the state Senate.
Murrieta Mayor Randon Lane, a Republican, is challenging Washington, a Democrat.

Thirty-one county judicial races are on the June ballot, but only one seat is being contested. Three prospects are seeking to replace Superior Court Judge Sarah Adams Christian, who is retiring and currently presides at the courthouse in Blythe.
All seven members of the Assembly are up for re-election, four of whom are facing challenges -- Eric Linder, R-Corona, Chad Mayes, R-Rancho Mirage, Jose Medina, D-Riverside, and Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore.
All four congressional representatives whose districts include parts of Riverside County are up for re-election, three of whom are being challenged. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Temecula, had no listed opponent as of today.
The seats of two state senators, Mike Morrell, R-Beaumont, and Richard Roth, D-Riverside, will be contested in the primary.
