Fire Muster For Fire Explorers Planned Sunday: CSFA
The California State Firefighters' Association will hold a traditional style "fire muster" at the Ben Clark Training Facility.
RIVERSIDE, CA ā Approximately 20 California high-school-aged Fire Explorer teams will compete in a traditional Fire Muster on Sunday, the California State Firefighters' Association announced.
Local dignitaries, including Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez, will be on hand to give introductions, announce teams, and hand out trophies.
According to the organizers, a Fire Muster, which dates back to the 1800s, is a way to measure and display firefighting prowess and schools in an old-school style. Teams will compete in Bunker and Hose Roll Relay, Hose Drag Relay, Make and Break, and Bucket Brigade.

Today, Fire Musters build upon that storied tradition and test specific practical firefighting skills and effective teamwork in a fun and spirited, timed, competitive environment, according to spokesperson Gary Giacomo.
"CSFA hosts this Fire Explorer Muster in cooperation with the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association, Phenix Technology, Southern California Edison, and Firehouse Magazine," Giacomo said.
