Fire Station Construction Project In Beaumont: The Latest Update
The station will be located on approximately 6 acres along the east side of Potrero Road, between San Timoteo Canyon Road and SR-60.

BEAUMONT, CA — A new West Side Fire Station construction project is still in the works for Beaumont, and during this week's city council meeting much discussion was devoted to it (watch video below).
The station will be located on approximately 6 acres along the east side of Potrero Road, between San Timoteo Canyon Road and state Route 60. The property is also slated to house a new central police station.
Construction will begin in September and last for a year, according to the city's estimated schedule. Advertisements for construction bids will run from June 15 to July 31, and an award bid is expected to be discussed during the August 18 city council meeting.

The estimated construction cost for the project is $6.8 million, but the figure doesn't include off-site utility, off-site roadway, or environmental remediation costs, which the city projects will run an additional $2 to $3 million.
Some residents who live near the project site have questioned what impact the station might have on their insurance premiums. Officials were not able to answer the question directly during Tuesday's meeting, but there was discussion about it (watch below).
