Free Outdoor Gym Being Unveiled In San Jacinto
The new Fitness Court at Mistletoe Park is an open-air wellness center that allows users to get a free full-body workout.
SAN JACINTO, CA — The city of San Jacinto has a new, free outdoor gym for its residents. The novel total-body Fitness Court® with a supporting mobile app will be unveiled at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mistletoe Park.
The Fitness Court is an open-air wellness center that allows users to leverage their own body weight to get a full-body workout. Created with adults of all ages in mind, the Fitness Court is adaptable for all fitness levels. New users can also download the free Fitness Court App — a coach-in-your-pocket style platform — designed to transform the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness ecosystem. The Fitness Court App, called "Fitness Court," is available for iOS and Android.
National Fitness Campaign, a nationwide consulting organization that partners with cities and schools to plan, build, and fund healthy infrastructure, is behind San Jacinto's new Fitness Court. In October 2020, the city and dozens of other select recipients from around the country were each awarded a $30,000 grant from the San Francisco-based company. In addition to the grant funding, a city match and local sponsorships from LCA Metals, Sierra Fasteners, Los Mareados, SJ Power, Enterprise Fleet Management, Soboba Foundation, and Interwest Community Foundation contributed to make the project happen in San Jacinto.

“With the growth our city has seen over the last several years, we are thrilled to welcome the Fitness Court to our city and our residents are thankful to see effective use of our parks with campaigns and tools like this,” said San Jacinto Mayor Crystal Ruiz. “The only way this project is possible is through the effective leadership and ingenuity of our city staff who are always looking for grants and tools to enhance our city. We are so proud of San Jacinto.”
National Fitness Campaign developed its trademarked seven-station outdoor gym system in 2012 hoping to inspire municipalities to transform public spaces into community fitness hubs. Currently, 150 active Fitness Court locations exist across the country.

“Adopting a healthy eating, active lifestyle can be difficult in today’s fast-paced world. Our residents are seeking ways to exercise and interact at the same time, and the fitness court provides that function,” said San Jacinto City Manager Rob Johnson. “Mistletoe Park’s. revitalization as a core city park on Main Street was the perfect location. As our city continues to grow with young people and young families, we must identify and deliver new amenities to them. I’m proud of our staff for identifying the Fitness Court and grateful we were chosen as a host city.”
Mistletoe Park is located at 421 Mistletoe Park in San Jacinto. The community is invited to Saturday's unveiling.
