Gasoline Price Rises For Fifth Time in Seven Days Near Banning, Beaumont

But cheaper prices are expected once stations can sell the 'winter blend.'

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose seven-tenths of a cent Tuesday to $2.772, one day after dropping a half-cent.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen five times in seven days and is a half-cent more than one week ago and 5.6 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, it is 14.2 cents lower than one year ago.

"Southern California gas prices have been in a bit of a holding pattern within a 10-cent range -- $2.75-$2.85 -- for about the last month," Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service."There have been some supply problems caused by two power outages at the Torrance refinery, but supplies of the summer blend seem to be adequate to prevent a price increase at the moment.

On Nov. 1, gas stations will be able to sell the winter blend of fuel which is cheaper to produce, and that could put some downward pressure on gas prices, along with this being the traditional low-demand time of the year for gasoline," she said.
