Get Your Banning, Beaumont Property Taxes in by Thursday

Riverside County homeowners have until Thursday to get the first installment on their property tax bills paid, or risk incurring penalties.

The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office in July sent out notices seeking payments on more than 910,000 secured properties, including parcels, houses and condominiums, for the 2015-16 tax year.

The grace period to pay the first installment ends Thursday. Any payments received after that date will be considered delinquent and incur a 10 percent late fee, according to county officials.

Treasurer-Tax Collector Don Kent encouraged property owners to make a payment now “to avoid a penalty.”

Tax payments can be made anytime online via www.riversidetaxinfo.com. Residents can also make payments in person at the tax collector’s offices in the following locations: 4080 Lemon St. in Riverside; 38-686 El Cerrito Road in Palm Desert; and 40935 County Center Drive, Suite C in Temecula.

Credit and debit card payments are accepted via the Internet, or by calling (951) 955-3900. Credit card transactions include a 2 percent “convenience fee.”

Checks are always welcome. However, county officials said that if they’re mailed, the envelopes must be postmarked on or before Dec. 10, or they’ll be considered overdue, and an additional fee will be tacked onto the bill.

Officials said residents who don’t pay their taxes risk having a lien placed on their property.

The second and final property tax installment is due by April 10.
