Gov. Newsom Endorses Holstege For Pass Area Assembly Seat
Attorney and Palm Springs City Councilmember Christy Holstege will face off in November against Greg Wallis in District 47.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA ā Palm Springs Councilmember Christy Holstege announced Wednesday that her bid for the 47th Assembly District seat, which includes Banning and Beaumont, has the backing of Gov. Gavin Newsom.
In a released statement from the Holstege campaign, the Newsom endorsement read, āChristy Holstege is just the kind of bold, decisive leader we need in these trying times. As a Mayor and businesswoman, Christy Holstege has been a driven, effective, and tireless advocate for Inland Empire families. On issues from public safety, to protecting abortion rights, to housing the homeless, Christy has delivered for local families. Join me - vote for Christy Holstege for State Assembly.ā
Holstege, a Democrat who works as a civil rights attorney, will face off in November against Republican Greg Wallis, who serves as district director for Assemblyman Chad Mayes.

In January, Mayes announced he would not seek re-election.
āPublic policy is in my blood and Iām certainly not done serving. But the time has come for me to move on to the next chapter beyond the state legislature," Mayes said at the time in a released statement. Mayes, who is a registered Independent, left the Republican party as Trumpism took over.
