High Winds Forecast Across San Gorgonio Pass, Coachella Valley

The National Weather Service has forecast gusty winds across the area.

BANNING, CA — Gusty winds will buffet the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning Monday as temperatures cool slightly throughout Riverside County, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure will weaken Monday and Tuesday, then greater cooling is expected Wednesday and Thursday as a low pressure system moves inland through California, forecasters said.

Winds out of the west Monday are expected to be 20-30 mph in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, with gusts reaching 50 mph, while winds in the Coachella Valley will be 15-20 mph, with 30 mph gusts possible.

A wind advisory expired at 6 a.m. Monday in the Coachella Valley, the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Riverside County mountains.

High temperatures Monday are forecast to reach 111 in the Coachella Valley, 96 in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, 93 in Hemet, 91 in Riverside and Lake Elsinore, 85 in Temecula and 82 in Idyllwild.

Highs in the Coachella Valley are expected to dip to 104 on Friday before rising slowly this weekend, forecasters said.
