Interstate 215 Crash Prompts SigAlert In Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA — A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 215 in Riverside Thursday left one person injured and forced partial closure of the southbound side of the freeway.

The crash happened about 11:40 a.m. in the fast lane of southbound I- 215, just north of Blaine Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Tesla, a Toyota Tacoma pickup and a Toyota Sienna SUV impacted, according to the CHP, though the circumstances were unclear.

The vehicles came to rest in the No. 1 and HOV lanes, leaving three lanes open, according to the CHP. Two of the vehicles sustained significant damage, according to reports from the scene.

A SigAlert was issued at 11:50 a.m. because of the resulting traffic jam at the location.

Riverside Fire Department paramedics arrived 10 minutes later and found one motorist with minor to moderate injuries. The unnamed person was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Lanes were expected reopen early afternoon.
