Police say the man is currently hospitalized.

HEMET, CA — A man was found early Thursday morning after surviving being shot in the head in Hemet, police said. Though police were told that the man shot himself, they believe the case to have "suspicious circumstances."
The victim, whose name was withheld, suffered the life-threatening injury about 12:15 p.m. at a residence in the 2800 block of Rafferty Road, just west of Gibbel Park. Police said they got a 911 call for a "subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head."
"The subject was still alive upon arrival and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where the subject is currently being treated," Hemet Police Lt. Eddie Pust said in a news release. "This is an active and ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time."
