Man Wounded In Possible Shooting, Collision In Banning

Police in Banning were investigating a vehicle collision and reports of a shooting, both of which occurred within minutes of each other.

BANNING, CA — Just minutes after police discovered that a vehicle had crashed into a brick wall in Banning, officers found a man suffered from multiple gunshot wounds nearby. Officials were working to determine whether the two incidents were related, the Banning Police Department said in a statement.

Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of West Lincoln Street at 11:29 p.m. on Thursday, where they found an unoccupied crashed vehicle that had collided with a brick wall. At 11:33 p.m., officers heard gunfire just south of the crash site in the Serrano Del Vista community, officials said.

Minutes later, Banning Police dispatch received a phone call from a woman who said her husband had just been shot. Officers arrived to the woman's residence on Breezy Circle, where they found a man suffering from several gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately available and it was unknown whether the collision and shooting were related, according to police.
