Mark Orozco's Gateway Rally

This Saturday, May 17th at 1 PM, Mark Orozco, Marion Ashley's opponent, will be hosting a No On Gateway Rally at  Oak Valley/Fallen Heroes Park in Beaumont. It may seem that Marion Ashley's re-election is a foregone conclusion but anything can happen and Mark hasn't given up.

Over the years, while Mark was serving on the Beaumont Unified School Board, he and I didn't always see eye to eye on a number of issues. However, Mark earned my respect by his willingness to pick up the phone after a heated school board meeting, and call me at home to better understand my position and offer his views.

Mark reached out to me back when we first started fighting the Gateway project. He was one of the first public figures to officially come out against the massive warehouse and he has not wavered in his opposition. I am voting for Mark for one reason, he is willing to put his community above the interests of land speculators and will honor the General Plan, the contract between the people and our government.

Supervisor Ashley has shown that he really doesn't care if we are opposed to a project that will permanently damage our community. Instead of listening to constituents and working to find real solutions to bring both sides together, he appointed a committee to suppress the growing opposition from his constituents and to ease the concerns of a land speculator who has been a regular donor to his campaigns.  Marion Ashley no longer deserves our respect or our support.

Please make it out to  Oak Valley/Fallen Heroes Park on Saturday, bring your families, and learn how Mark will work to defeat the Shopoff project and how he will represent our district on other issues. You know how little Marion Ashley is interested in listening to his constituents, many who have helped elect him to three terms, ask Mark how he is different and then walk with him and watch him knock on doors to see if he is a candidate you can support.
