Man Suspected of Stabbing Acquaintance Outside Moreno Valley House

Joseph Lee Kim, 30, was arrested this week on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

Moreno Valley, CA – A man suspected of stabbing an acquaintance during a confrontation outside the victim's Moreno Valley home was being held Thursday in lieu of $1 million bail.

Joseph Lee Kim, 30, of Montclair was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. James Rayls.

Kim and the victim, whose name was withheld, got into an argument in the early morning hours Saturday in front of the residence, at the intersection of Moreno Beach Drive and JFK Drive, the sergeant said.

During the dispute, the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the other man in the upper body, according to Rayls.

He said deputies were called to the location and discovered the victim, who was transported to Riverside University Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Kim was gone, but detectives were able to identify him as the alleged attacker after speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence at the scene, according to Rayls.

The suspect was detained about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 23000 block of Sunnymead Ranch Parkway and taken into custody after he was questioned by investigators at the sheriff's Moreno Valley station.

He's being held at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
