One Dead In Banning Crash

BREAKING: A truck crashed off of Interstate 10 and into a tree, fire officials report.

BANNING, CA — One person was killed and another was seriously injured Thursday when a truck veered off Interstate 10 and slammed into a tree in Banning, fire officials report. The crash was reported at 10:21 a.m.. on the westbound I-10, west of 22nd Street.

"CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a single vehicle traffic collision along westbound Interstate 10 [and] Sunset Avenue in Banning," the Riverside County Fire Department reported. "Firefighters arrived on scene of a vehicle off the freeway with a total of two patients."

One of those people was dead at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to the fire department.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two people were in a truck which overturned and came to rest in a drainage ditch after striking the tree.
