Pass Redskins Host Mandatory 'Party'
The youth football program has signed up 200 football players and 100 cheerleaders.

No practices have been held and no games have been played, but the 2011 youth football season is already considered a success for the Pass Redskins.
That will be the theme during Saturday’s season kickoff event at Beaumont Sports Park.
The event is billed as a party, but it is also mandatory for all players and parents so they can finalize paperwork, fill out contracts and meet coaches, according to organizers.

The Pass Redskins, a member of the Southern California Junior All American Football Conference, is a nine team league that showcases football players from the pass area near Cabazon, Banning and Beaumont.
Organizers estimate 200 football players have signed up. That is good enough for nine teams. In addition 100 girls have signed up to be cheerleaders.

“So far this is one of the most successful seasons we have had,” said Jessica Moore, who serves as Secretary for the Pass Redskins. “It is exciting and it’s all for the kids. It really brings the community together.”
Moore said last minute sign-ups will be accepted on Saturday and will continue to be accepted up till the first day of practice in August.
“We would like as many as we can get,” Moore said. “We will not turn anyone away.”
Football registration is $225. Registration on Saturday will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coaches, parents and players will finalize all paperwork matters and the day will also include a punt, pass and kick competition.
Teams are based on age (9-14) and weight (99 lbs to 185 lbs).
The first day of training camp will be August 1. The first game of the season will be played on Sept. 10. All games will be played on Saturdays.
The 12 game season will feature games against teams from Corona, Twentynine Palms, Fontana, Palm Springs, Coachella, Lake Elsinore, Murietta, Hemet and Menifee.
The Pass Redskins has two defending SCJAAFC Super Bowl defending champions – one at the Pee Wee division for ages 12-13 and the other in the Micro Division for ages 8-10.
Registration for cheer is $75, which does not include include uniform costs. Cheerleaders can fundraise up to 90 percent of their uniform costs, Moore said.
