Police Thwarted Possible 'Active Shooter' Incident at Banning High School, Agency Says
Banning police say "...evidence was located indicating that two students were involved in the planning of a possible shooting."

BANNING, CA — Banning police say they've stopped and arrested two teens who may have been planning a shooting at the local high school. They are both 15.
According to Banning Police Chief Alex Diaz, school staff heard word of the possible attack and reported it to the school's resource officer.
"Witnesses reported overhearing a juvenile making threats to carry out shooting on campus on [Tuesday]," Diaz said in a news release. "The 'Kids With Guns Protocol' was activated and during the investigation, evidence was located indicating that two students were involved in the planning of a possible shooting at Banning High School."

Diaz did not elaborate on what sort of evidence was found, but told Patch that no weapons were located.
"At this point, there is nothing indicating that they have immediate access to a gun..." he added.

Both individuals, who were only identified as 15-year-old students, were ultimately arrested and taken to Juvenile Hall on charges of making criminal threats.
"The Banning Police Department works closely with administrators from Banning Unified School District to keep students and staff safe," Diaz said.
