REAL-TIME RESULTS: Banning's Mining Tax, Measure J
Click here for results in real time.

Measure J in Banning has been at the center of controversy in that city, as voters are being asked to weigh in on a new tax for miners in the area. The only one currently in town is Robertson’s Ready Mix.
Last week, a court ruled that the city must stop their actions in promoting the passage of the measure, according to the Press Enterprise.
Measure J would create an entirely new fee targeting mining operations. According to backers, the quarries where excavation has been occurring since 1925 have taken a toll on the local environment and curbed residential development -- without adequate compensation to residents.
