Sidewalk Storytelling in Banning: 'Thirteen Moons on a Tortoise's Back'

Turtles and tortoises are the focus 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, outside Dorothy Ramon Learning Center, Hays Street and San Gorgonio Avenue.

Native American stories and crafts return Sept. 10 to Hays Street and San Gorgonio Avenue.

Sidewalk storytelling on the second Saturday of the month will focus on turtles and tortoises, reptiles that remain powerful in desert Native American folklore.

"Thirteen Moons on a Tortoise's Back" will help youngsters and grownups alike understand more about how some tribes interpret turtle-and-tortoise connections to lunar cycles.
