Sexual Assault Suspect Sought In Banning

A victim of sexual assault was taken to a hospital this week and police were still searching for a suspect, officials said.

BANNING, CA — A woman reported on Wednesday that she was accosted at her parked vehicle and sexually assaulted in Banning, police said. The suspect was still at large, according to the Banning Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the 400 Block of East Williams Street in Banning at 8:47 a.m. on Wednesday. The woman told police she was parked in the area when a man attacked her and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

Detectives swept the area in search of the suspect. While a person of interest was contacted and interviewed, they were later released, police said. The investigation is still ongoing.
