Shooting Reported In Cherry Valley As Gang Task Force Serves Warrant

BREAKING: Several law enforcement vehicles lined a busy thoroughfare Tuesday afternoon following the incident.

CHERRY VALLEY, CA — A person who attempted to run from law enforcement officers as they served a warrant in Cherry Valley on Tuesday afternoon was shot and hospitalized, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reports. The incident had Oak Glen Road, about 1.5 miles north of Orchard Street, lined with law enforcement vehicles.

Sheriff's officials tell Patch that the Gang Task Force was serving a warrant in the 9000 block of Oak Glen Road when a suspect ran and a foot pursuit ensued. That's when an officer involved shooting occurred, Jody Miller of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.

The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition, Miller said.

Miller did not say when the shooting occurred, but witnesses first reported seeing law enforcement around 12:45 p.m. As of 4 p.m., officials remained on scene, though the roadway was open.
