Sobriety Checkpoint Planned For Pass Area: What To Know
California Highway Patrol officers have planned a DUI checkpoint for a Pass Area town over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

BANNING, CA — The California Highway Patrol (CHP), San Gorgonio Pass Area, announces a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Sobriety Checkpoint to be held on Friday in an unincorporated area of Riverside County's Pass Area.
The checkpoint will begin setting up at approximately 8:00 p.m. and will be operational at 8:30 p.m. It is set to end at approximately 2:00 a.m.
The sobriety checkpoint will be staffed by CHP Officers trained in detecting alcohol and/or drug-
impaired drivers. Officers will also be equipped with state-of-the-art hand-held breath testing devices, which accurately measure the blood alcohol concentration of suspected drunk drivers.

Offenders will be processed at the checkpoint and booked at either the Southwest Detention Facility
or the Larry D. Smith Detention Facility.
The sobriety checkpoint location will be available through the CHP Indio Communications Center
two hours before the checkpoint by calling (760) 772-8900 or by contacting Officer Palomera on his
cell phone at (916) 407-7511. This program was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
