State Senator for Banning, Beaumont Looking for "Patriots" to Honor
Nominations for Morrell Veterans Event Due March 20
The following was submitted for publication by the office of Senator Mike Morrell:
On Friday, May 15, 2015, Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) will host the second annual Patriots of the Past, Present and Future Recognition Ceremony at Cable Airport in Upland.
The event will honor veterans, reservists, members of the National Guard, and businesses and organizations that have supported them. It will also be an opportunity to discuss public policy issues affecting veterans.

“Patriots” (one each from the Past, Present, and Future) will be recognized in four separate categories - Business, Education, Public Safety and Community Service - for a total of 12 awards. “Patriots” are defined as:

- Patriot of the Past: A veteran of a conflict such as World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or other event.
- Patriot of the Present: A currently enlisted service member, a reservist, a veteran of a recent conflict such as the Gulf War or Operation Iraqi Freedom, or a business or organization that currently serves veterans in some capacity.
- Patriot of the Future: An individual under 21 years of age who either actively serves the military or veterans or plans on enlisting.
Community members are encouraged to nominate individuals, businesses, or organizations based in the 23rd Senate District to be considered for recognition. They should clearly identify nominees as being either a Patriot of the Past, Present, or Future and the category in which the individual or organization is being nominated (Business, Education, Public Safety and Community Service).
