Suicide Reported At RCC, Parking Structure Closed Part Of Monday

Monday marked the first day of classes for the Spring semester at RCC.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A death at the campus of Riverside City College prompted police to close off the school's parking structure Monday morning, the Press Enterprise reports. The death is believed to be a suicide.

The newspaper reports that a school staffer found the person involved, a man, around 6:30 a.m. Images from the scene showed police and fire units blocking people from entering the structure.

The school wrote on Twitter that the parking structure was closed until around 10 a.m.

"This morning, there was an individual medical emergency which required the closure of the park㏌g structure," the school wrote.

"If you find yourself in need of support services, please reach out to the Health Services Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm," school officials said. "Walk-ins are welcome or you can call (951) 222-8151. Health Services is located on the bottom floor of the Bradshaw Building."
