Cabazon Swift Water Rescue: Dramatic Operation Wraps

UPDATED: The truck was washed away by the rushing flood waters, forcing two stranded motorists to swim.

UPDATE 11:20 A.M.: Fire officials have just rescued the motorists stranded in Cabazon, after a dramatic change in the situation occurred. As the truck sat in the middle of the flooded roadway, the rushing waters pushed it away and the duo was forced to swim to nearby bushes.

Once the two were at the island in the middle of the 10 mph flowing water, a fire department helicopter aided in the rescue, helping bring the man and woman to safety.

Following the rescue, the two were walking around, but they were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, the fire department reported.

A third person, who escaped the flood waters before the other two, was uninjured.

CABAZON, CA — A swift water rescue operation is underway in the Cabazon area, to help two motorists stranded on top of a vehicle, fire officials tell Patch. The duo is on top of a truck in the middle of a flooded roadway waiting for help.

The incident was first reported at 9:12 a.m. on Adele Avenue, according to Morongo Fire Chief Kevin Gaines.

As of 10:30 a.m., the swift water rescue team was prepping to try and reach the people.
