What Happened to the Beaumont State of the City Address & Luncheon?
'Breaking News' The Chamber has Agreed to Host Beaumont's annual State of the City Luncheon on August 24th
Where’s the Beaumont Chamber’s Luncheon for the Mayor’s State of the City Address?
Every year for at least the past decade the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce has hosted the Mayor’s ‘State of the City’ Luncheon.
The event was traditionally held in May to coincide with the second payment of Property Taxes from the County. All the good o’ boys would attend to shower the Mayor with adoration.

The 2007 State of the City Address by Mayor Jeff Fox used the theme ‘It’s a great time to be in Beaumont’ and boasted of ‘Strong Finances’ and ‘Working on the design of the new Oak Valley Fire Station’.
Wasting time and money making cheesy state of the city videos started in 2010. The ‘we have $11 Million in Reserves’ lie was repeated until Mike Lara’s ‘Elephant in the Room’ theme in 2016.

The 2017 State of the City Luncheon never happened nor do I remember any talk about a 2017 State of the City Luncheon. Why was there no 2017 State of the City Luncheon?
We know it’s not because Mayor Lloyd White declined. Lloyd White has spent the last decade trying to be included in Beaumont’s rubber chicken dinners. I’m sure that Lloyd White was looking forward to being the big man among the people that chased him out of the School District.
It couldn’t be for lack of money. Mayor Lloyd White would have paid any amount of Taxpayers’ Dollars for a party in which he would be the main event.
Being the whinny brat that he is; I’m surprised that White didn’t publicly complain.
What's the word on the street Hillbilly?
Was the State of the City Luncheon canceled because the Chamber couldn't find anyone in town that was willing to sit in the same room with the current Councilmen?
