2 Women Arrested in Suspicion of Mail, Package Theft

Belmont police recovered stolen items from Belmont and San Mateo.

Two women were arrested Thursday in connection with multiple recent mail and package thefts that occurred in Belmont and San Mateo.

On Thursday, 7/16/15 at approx. 4PM, a resident on Virginia Ave came home and found several pieces of open mail on the ground in front of her home. Belmont Police investigated and found a total of four victims of mail theft, on Virginia Ave and Kingston Rd.

Officers also learned that a neighbor saw two suspicious women in a dark sedan, in the area between noon and 2PM. The suspects were described as two females, one wearing a blue shirt and jeans. The suspects apparently fled after they realized the neighbor was watching them.

Belmont Police investigators continued to work on the case and found the suspects in this case were also active in the Plateau-Skymont Neighborhood on the same day, taking packages from front porches of two residences, one on Marsten Ave. and one on Christian Dr.

Earlier this week, Belmont investigators learned of similar mail thefts in San Mateo and began a joint investigation with San Mateo Police.

On Thursday July 23, 2015, Belmont and San Mateo investigators located the two suspects at a residence in San Mateo.

The suspects, Vanity Lozano age 28 and Amber Larmey age 35, both of San Mateo were arrested without incident and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, identity theft and conspiracy.

Several items from both the Belmont and San Mateo cases were recovered.
