Belmont Police to Notify Public of Planned Enforcement 'Hot Spots'

Do you follow the Belmont Police Department on Twitter?  If not, you may want to start.

That's because the agency announced Thursday that they will begin tweeting out alerts "...advising where traffic officers will be conducting directed traffic enforcement efforts," according to Police Captain Patrick Halleran.

Halleran says those alerts will also be sent out via the Nextdoor social media site.

“The idea behind this program is two-fold. The first is, if people know where we are working, they will be more mindful of their driving,” said Police Chief Dan DeSmidt. “The second is to get more community involvement in our traffic safety efforts."

Distributed alerts will have the tag line, "Traffic Enforcement Hot Spots."

If there is ever a hot spot in Belmont you want police to know about, Halleran says to call the department at 650-595-7400 or email police@belmont.gov– or, of course you can tweet them @belmontcapolice.
