Car Hit on Caltrain Tracks in Redwood City

Officials say no one was inside the vehicle wen it was struck Wednesday night.

REDWOOD CITY, CA- An unoccupied vehicle on the tracks was struck by a Caltrain in Redwood City Wednesday evening, according to a spokesman for the San Mateo County Transit District. Northbound train No. 385 struck the vehicle at Maple Street around 7 p.m.

At the time of the incident there were 145 passengers on the train but no injuries were reported, according to Samtrans spokesman Will Reisman.

Trains temporarily stopped in both directions before single-tracking through the area around 7:20 p.m.

Emergency crews had cleared the scene by 8:07 p.m., and trains were moving in both directions.

Passengers experiencred delays of 20 to 50 minutes, according to Reisman.
