CORT Partners with Housing Industry Foundation to Help San Francisco Bay Area Families Remain in Stable Housing
Leading furniture rental company provides furnishings and funds to housing program

CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway Company and the nation’s leading provider of transition services, has been an active partner of the Housing Industry Foundation (HIF) in helping over 10,000 people in the San Francisco Bay Area during a housing crisis.
The Housing Industry Foundation works to help individuals and families remain in or return to stable housing by providing emergency grants to families in need and renovating local shelters. CORT has been providing furniture, housewares and monetary donations to support HIF’s efforts for over two decades, helping to identify long-term solutions to the lack of affordable housing in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. CORT has also been a Diamond Sponsor at HIF’s September Summit event – the organization’s annual fundraiser.
“Last year, HIF helped 2,492 individuals stay in their homes by providing $439,232 in housing assistance grants,” said Lauren Castle, CORT’s group vice president of sales, who is an active member of the Housing Industry Foundation’s Board of Directors. “CORT is proud to contribute to HIF’s great work and we look forward to continuing to help deliver the fastest, most effective homelessness prevention programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.”

For many people living in the Bay Area’s expensive housing market, a lost job, broken-down car or a sick child could mean the difference between having a home or struggling day-to-day to find shelter. HIF works to combat this by working with emergency service agencies to provide grants to help low-income households cover rent, security deposits or utilities.
Additionally, HIF works to provide safe, quality housing for area-homeless by completing renovations and improvements to local shelters at a significantly reduced cost and has completed more than $355,000 in renovations to local shelters. By drawing on its partners in the multifamily industry, HIF provides major renovations, furnishings and landscaping to non-profit housing providers in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties that lack the funds to upgrade their facilities beyond regular maintenance.
