Any budding dancers? Check out the Dance Mode Studio year end show!
Generally, if you are thinking about having your child take
lessons, going to a studio's year end show is really helpful. First,
the costumes that the dancers wear tell you if they're family friendly,
as does the choreography. Are their hip hop dancers wearing sparkly bikinis and camo hip shorts and mostly doing bootie popping regardless
of their age? Are there any swear words in the music that they dance
to? Thank goodness the answer is definitely NO! at Dance Mode.
Second - are the dancers good? In other words, does it look like
they've learned anything? Is that true across all genres? And what
genres do they offer?
Third
- If you have a boy - are there other boys dancing? At DMS, it's
about 40% boys, and at other studios, more like 2-5%. And is the
choreography girly? (a term used by my younger son, Nico, to explain why he did
not like jazz at another studio) Or is it something that they'll feel
comfortable with doing - even if their friends from school come and
watch?
Fourth - what other feel do you get about the studio and the community?
Hope this helps. There are a lot of year end shows in the works this month,
so if you're shopping for a dance studio, it's a good time to be
checking them out!
Ticket sale information is below - they are
not
on-line... and there may only be a few left at the door on the day of
the event. They're $20 each, and if you can't make any of the at the
dance studio sale times, but really want to come, call the studio.
