Jeffrey Jones piano concert set for March 12

Concert pianist Jeffrey Jones will perform a program of Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Schumann at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Congregational Church of Belmont, 715 Alameda de las Pulgas, where he serves as church pianist and organist.

Jones started on the piano at age 6 and gave a full solo recital at age 8. He grew up performing twice a year in his hometown of Morgan Hill. At San Jose State University, he was pianist for the Wind Ensemble and the Symphony Orchestra.

He also serves as accompanist for the Cantabile Youth Chorus in Los Altos and has also been engaged with the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale as the rehearsal pianist. Last year, he gave a command performance for the president of Estonia with alto soloist Helen Lokuta.

The program will include Beethoven’s Sonata No. 28 in A major, Op. 101; Chopin’s Ballade No. 2 in F major, Op. 38; Liszt’s Ballade No. 2 in B minor, S. 171; and Schumann’s Romanze in F-sharp major, Op. 28, No. 2, and Fantasie in C major, Op. 17.

Admission will be $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students; children under 12 are free. Refreshments will be served at intermission, and Jones’ CDs and DVDs will be available for sale.
