Officials say the adult male was hospitalized.

SAN MATEO, CA — A man was hit by Caltrain on tracks in San Mateo late Sunday night, the transit agency reported Monday. The man, described as a "trespasser," was rushed to the hospital, but an update on his condition was not available Monday.

The incident happened around 9:55 p.m. on the tracks just north of the San Mateo station, according to Caltrain officials.

"The person was taken to a hospital with injuries," officials said in an emailed statement. "The train was not in revenue service and no paying passengers were aboard."
