Culture vs. Copyright: A Diary of a Naïve

a reflection on the

philosophy of copyright and the nature of culture.

. . . Five first-graders debate the

creative
process, the relationship between culture and civilization, and many
other complex ideas. Being first graders, they appeared to be able to
take on these ideas using very simple language, making them easy to
understand. The teacher is careful not to overly influence the children:
he prefers to let them develop their own ideas. After discussions
inspired by his own students, he writes down his own thoughts . . . This
is how we come to read a diary.
