New Details Reveal Inmate Escaped Through Bathroom Window, Wearing Orange Jumpsuit: DA
Prosecutors say the sex offender was in the Peninsula area to enroll in a drug treatment program at Project 90. (breaking)

REDWOOD CITY, CA – A jail inmate who allegedly escaped custody last week while in San Mateo fled through a restroom window and was caught about a mile and a half away at a Caltrain station, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
Salvador Aguirre, 47, is a registered sex offender who has been serving time in a Santa Cruz County jail for a probation violation.
On Friday, his probation officer brought him to Project 90 in San Mateo to interview for admission into their drug treatment program, the DA's office says. While there – and when the officer had stepped away for lunch – Aguirre allegedly asked the staff if he could use the bathroom. Once there, authorities say he went out the window and escaped.
