Police: Missing Peninsula Man's Body Found in North Bay

The death of a Millbrae man who went missing late last month is now being investigated as a homicide after his body was found along a dirt road in Sonoma County last week, San Mateo County sheriff's officials said Wednesday.

Keith Green, 27, had last been seen at the Millbrae Pancake House at 1301 El Camino Real at about 10 p.m. on April 28.

His roommate reported him missing the next day and said he had left his wallet, car and other belongings behind.

A hiker in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park found Green's cellphone the same day Green was reported missing.

Sheriff's investigators publicly asked for help locating him.

On May 11, a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy found a decomposing body near a homeless encampment between Healdsburg and Geyserville.

The deputy was working with the county's Homeless Outreach Services Team looking for the encampment in a field near the Lytton Station Road off-ramp from U.S. Highway 101. They found the body 5 to 10 feet down an embankment along a dirt road nearby.

San Mateo County sheriff's officials said the Sonoma County coroner's office used Green's dental records to identify his body and an autopsy concluded he was the victim of a homicide.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation into Green's death.

Sheriff's investigators have not released the specific cause of his death, saying it could compromise the investigation.

Sheriff's officials said there are no suspects in the case so far.
