Two-Alarm Fire in Foster City Displaces Residents

Several evacuations happened as a result of the blaze.

FOSTER CITY, CA — A two-alarm fire in Foster City displaced residents and led to evacuations on Wednesday afternoon, according to firefighters.

Emergency crews responded to a townhouse in the 800 block of Magellan Lane at 3:33 p.m., where they found a detached garage burning. The fire was also extending into the end unit of several townhouses.

Police set up a perimeter and helped evacuate neighboring residences.

The main fire was out within roughly 15 minutes, but it took several hours to extinguish hotspots in the attic and garage. The residence was left uninhabitable.

A neighboring townhouse sustained water damage, and the roof was also damaged during the firefight. A neighboring garage also sustained minor fire damage.

The residents and firefighters were not injured by the fire, but a police officer at the scene was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
