Woman Caught Red-Handed In Peninsula Car Theft Case: Cops

Police say they found the woman inside a victim's car after someone called to report a break-in in progress.

A 22-year-old Sacramento resident was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stealing items from unlocked vehicles on the Peninsula and mail theft after she was caught in Woodside, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a woman breaking into a vehicle in front of a residence in the 4100 block of Jefferson Avenue.

"Deputies arrived on scene and located Jamie Cordero inside the victim’s vehicle," sheriff's officials said in a news release. "Deputies determined that Cordero had taken items from numerous unlocked vehicles and was in possession of stolen property from multiple victims in the immediate area."

Two victims had items stolen from unlocked vehicles and another two had mail stolen, the sheriff's office said in the news release.

Cordero was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of tampering with a vehicle, possessing stolen property, petty theft and mail theft.Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the sheriff office's anonymous tip line at (800) 547-2700.
