Belmont Shore Residents Get Strict New Water-Use Regulations
Residents, restaurants and motels in Belmont Shore will have to cut back water use in landscaping, washing and drinking under new regulation

Long Beach residents can only water their landscaping two days a week under regulations enacted today by the city’s Water Commission.
The restriction is included as part of the Stage 2 Water Supply Shortage declaration approved by the board. Residents and businesses will be allowed to irrigate landscaping only on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The irrigation is also restricted to 10 minutes per station per watering day, or 20 minutes if water-efficient rotating nozzles are being used, according to the city. Irrigation also must be done only before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
Other water restrictions in place for Long Beach residents include a ban on filling swimming pools and spas with potable water and a prohibition on restaurants from serving water to customers unless it is requested. Residents also cannot use a hose to wash vehicles unless the hose has a water shut-off nozzle.
