Bomb Squad Investigation Forces Long Beach Street Closure
Police were called to investigate and render safe a device that looked like a pipe bomb on Clark Avenue.
LONG BEACH, CA -- A suspicious device found today in Long Beach prompted a bomb squad call-up.
A 12-inch-long cylindrical tube sealed off with duct tape was found about 12:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Clark Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Sgt. Brad Johnson.
The sheriff's Arson-Explosives Detail was summoned to investigate, and rendered the device safe, Johnson said.

The all-clear was given by 3 p.m., he said.
Clark Avenue was closed between Spring Street and Airport Plaza Drive while the investigation was conducted, Johnson said.
