Jeff Berkenkamp said.The confrontation occurred outside the La Playa bar in the 1800 block of Pacific Avenue around 10:15 p.m., Berkenkamp said.The officer was responding to a call of an assault at the bar, and was injured during a use of force with the suspect, a man in his late 20s, Berkenkamp said.Responding officers used a carotid restraint on the suspect, who was also hospitalized as a precaution, Berkenkamp said.City News Service
