BART Track Repairs Will Halt Service This Weekend

Travel will be affected from April through August.

BART officials are reminding riders that they may need to make other arrangements for travel between the Fruitvale and Coliseum stations in Oakland on some weekends between April and August when transit workers make track and equipment repairs, BART officials said.

The first closure between the two stations is scheduled for this Sunday.

Future dates are subject to change, and BART officials said they will work around Golden State Warriors playoff games that will take place at Oracle Arena near the Coliseum station.

The repairs are part of the Building a Better BART program and transit agency officials said riders will experience a faster and quieter ride once the work is complete. BART will have buses available to take riders between the Fruitvale and Coliseum stations during the times track work is being done.

The buses will be free of charge, but riders can expect the bus ride to add 30 to 60 minutes to their travel time. Travel on BART shuttle trains between Oakland International Airport and the Coliseum station will unaffected by the work. The track work is needed before the tracks become completely unusable, BART officials said.
