Benicia PD Comments On CVS Robbery Pursuit, Arrests

Benicia police attributed the suspects' arrests in Pleasant Hill to "excellent police work" not only by Benicia PD but neighboring agencies.

BENICIA, CA — Benicia police said "excellent police work by Benicia officers and a great collaborative effort from our neighboring agencies," led to the arrests Thursday of three suspects in the robbery of a CVS pharmacy.

Following the report of the robbery at CVS, 2100 Columbus Parkway at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Benicia police officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit of the suspects to Pleasant Hill, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran, Benicia PD said in a statement about the incident.

A perimeter was set up and with the help of officers from California Highway Patrol and the Concord and Pleasant Hill police departments, deputies from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, as well as a CHP helicopter crew, all three robbery suspects were taken into custody, Benicia police said.

"Little did they know, Concord PD was also holding a K-9 training at that time," Benicia PD noted.

The names of suspects — a Vallejo woman and two men, one out of San Francisco and the other from Atascadero — were not released because they are being investigated for other crimes, police said.

The medications allegedly stolen during the robbery were thrown out of the car by the suspects during the pursuit but were later collected as evidence, police said.
