Head to Rush Ranch for a day of nature activities.
9-10am: Easy guided hike – learn about the marsh and local human history. Meet at the map outside the Nature Center.
10am-1pm: Take a trip back in time at the historic Rush Ranch Blacksmith Shop, and visit Little Bear’s display of Native American tools and decorations.
11am-1pm: Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides (all are welcome, but the wagons are especially designed for wheelchairs and others with limited mobility).
1pm-2pm: Bat expert Corky Quirk of NorCalBats shows real live bats that are native to California. Learn the importance of bats in our environment (they eat insects!), the issues they face, and the harmful myths that surround them. Meet in the Rush Ranch Nature Center.
Rush Ranch is owned by Solano Land Trust, and Getting the Rush is made possible by the all-volunteer organizations, Rush Ranch Educational Council and Access Adventure.
Note: Dogs are only allowed in the courtyard and on Suisun Hill Trail, and they must be on leash at all times. (Suisun Hill Trail is east of Grizzly Island Road, whereas the Rush Ranch entrance, courtyard and other trails are west of Grizzly Island Road).
Bring water, a snack or bag lunch, and insect repellent. Be prepared for variable weather (bring layered clothes and protection from sun, wind, fog and rain).
